The Bisle Ghat viewpoint — also known as Bisle view point — is one of the most spectacular vantage points in the Sakleshpur region. From a single roadside platform you look out across a vast spread of rainforest where three mountain ranges meet, with the Kumaradhara valley unfolding far below.
Set about 40 km from Sakleshpur, the viewpoint sits within the Bisle Reserve Forest, and the drive there through thick, misty jungle is half the experience. This guide covers the view itself, the best time to visit, how to reach it, the drive and what else to see nearby. For the wider picture, see our places to visit in Sakleshpur and things to do in Sakleshpur guides.
The viewpoint
The Bisle viewpoint is a small, fenced platform built right at the edge of the Ghats. From here the land falls away into an unbroken carpet of rainforest, and on a clear day you can pick out the meeting of three ranges — the Pushpagiri, Kumara Parvatha and Doddabetta hills — with the Kumaradhara river snaking through the valley below.
The best mornings bring a rolling sea of clouds that fills the valley and slowly burns off as the sun climbs. The platform itself is simple, with no shops or facilities, so the appeal is purely the raw, untouched scenery of the Western Ghats.
Best time to visit
Bisle Ghat is at its most magical from September to February. The post-monsoon and winter months bring lush green forest, the best chance of a cloud-filled valley at sunrise, and clear enough skies to see all three ranges. Early morning is by far the best time to arrive.
During the monsoon (June to August) the forest is at its greenest but the viewpoint is often completely fogged in, and the road can be slippery. In the dry pre-summer months the haze can soften the long-distance views. See our best time to visit Sakleshpur guide for the seasonal overview.
How to reach Bisle Ghat
Bisle Ghat viewpoint is roughly 40 km from Sakleshpur, reached by a narrow road that winds through the Bisle Reserve Forest. The drive takes around 1.5 to 2 hours each way, and a car or hired taxi is essential — there is no convenient public transport to the viewpoint itself.
The forest road is scenic but can be rough and twisty in places, so allow plenty of time and drive carefully, especially in the wet season. Fuel up before you set out, as there are no petrol stations or shops along the route, and the viewpoint is right beside the road, so no trekking is needed to reach it.

The drive through Bisle forest
For many visitors the journey is the highlight. The road threads through the Bisle Reserve Forest, one of the richest stretches of rainforest in the Ghats, alive with birdsong and often draped in mist. Watch for hornbills, butterflies and the occasional flash of wildlife crossing the road.
Because it passes through a protected reserve, stick to the road, avoid littering and do not play loud music. Set off early so you reach the viewpoint while the morning clouds are still in the valley.
What to see nearby
Bisle Ghat pairs well with the wider Sakleshpur circuit. Many visitors combine it with the star-shaped Manjarabad Fort, a working coffee and cardamom estate, or a trek to a waterfall such as Mookanana Falls on a separate day.
The route also lies on the way towards Kukke Subramanya and the Kumaradhara river crossings for those continuing west. See our places to visit in Sakleshpur guide to map out the route.
